We build 5Sense for the part of 5S that usually fails
We have run a production department of 200 people. Getting the shop floor into good order with 5S was the easy part. Keeping it that way was the hard part: a few weeks after the project, it started slipping.
Why 5S slips
It is rarely about people not caring. In most companies every finding, every fix and every updated standard goes through a manager. Production managers already run output, quality, staffing and safety. 5S follow-up comes on top of that, and it is the first thing to wait when the day gets busy.
Standards are usually printed and laminated, so changing one takes time nobody has. Audits take long, and the results rarely reach the people who work at the workstation every day.
Larger companies solve this with a lean or quality specialist. Many manufacturers do not have one, so the production manager does 5S alongside everything else.
What we do differently
- Only 5S. Not a general audit or forms tool. Every screen is built around workstations, standards and the five S.
- The fix goes to the workstation. Findings become tasks for the people who work there. They see them by scanning a QR code, without an account.
- Fix the cause, not the person. When the same thing keeps failing, the cause is usually the standard or the layout. 5Sense flags repeat issues so the cause gets fixed.
- One price per company. Everyone can take part without counting seats.

Our goal is simple: the manager sets the standard and checks the results, and the order on the shop floor holds without the manager chasing every fix.
5S that makes sense.
